The food was lovely, everybody enjoyed the food.  My Niece was so excited at the choices she was able to have as she is gluten free.

Hello Kelda, 

I like to thank you for the wonderful breakfast and lunch buffet you provided us with at our Staff Development Day event yesterday.

I have received so much positive feedback, everyone loved it. There was great variety of choice, catering for all dietary requirements. Especially the cauliflower bites were a great success, but then also were the onion bhaji, the turnovers and the yogurt pots. It was simply delicious. The coffee percolator and the water boiler worked a treat. Everything was just perfect.

Catering is always deciding factor whether an event is successful or not so thank you very much, for your contribution and help making this event a triumph. We very much are looking forward to be working with you again in the future.

Food and Drink Hero Award winner announced

The Aylsham Show, in association with local accountancy firm Lovewell Blake, asked the county to nominate their Food and Drink Hero for 2020 who have gone above and beyond to support their local community during lockdown. The response to the awards was incredible with over 1,200 nominations received online for 76 different businesses or individuals, celebrating the incredible work that our local food and drink producers and retailers have been doing.

The winner is Kelda’s Kitchen in South Walsham, owned and run by Kelda Forsyth.

As soon as lockdown was announced and Kelda’s usual catering jobs stopped abruptly, she set up a pop-up shop in her driveway to serve the local community. With the help of volunteers, she has been delivering fruit, vegetables and general basic groceries to those who have been isolating and the most vulnerable as well as providing delicious homemade treats and ready meals.

On receiving the news that Kelda had received the most nominations, she said: “The experience has been hugely positive. I have met so many wonderful people from South Walsham and surrounding villages who I would otherwise never have met. Locals met whilst waiting their turn to shop and could catch up with one another and offer support and reassurance through these difficult and isolating times.

It has been a real pleasure to serve the community and I am so humbled to have been nominated by so many people.”

Head Steward of the Awards, Alexandra Haswell said: “We have been delighted with the response received from the local community and humbled by the hard work that so many amazing people have been doing over the last few months. We would like to congratulate Kelda on winning the award and thank everyone who was nominated for the support they have provided to their customers.”

Firstly thank you so much for the fabulous buffet on Saturday. It went down very well with the ladies. Everything was delicious and almost all of it was eaten during the course of the evening but particular favourites were the coronation chicken pittas and the pasta salads. I think quite a number of ladies myself included thought the orange and cinnamon cheesecake was the nicest dessert we'd every had anywhere!

Even my 92-year-old mother, who eats very little and sets an unbelievably high standard, said that she had never tasted rice as delicious as your rice salad and that she wished she had had second helpings (which NEVER happens)! Personally the soya-marinated salmon was my favourite … or was it the smoked haddock lasagne ???  No, I still cannot make up my mind !

Robbie and I realised that, with our special dietary requests, our menu would be challenging; but obviously not for a person with your experience and skill. From our first meeting I felt completely relaxed and confident that I could leave it all up to you, allowing me to concentrate on just being the hostess. Well done!

A huge thank you for the superb food and service on the 8th and 9th June. The moussaka and roulade for the Friday night were excellent, with ample portions and thank you also for making a special effort to make the dishes gluten free. In addition we’ve had lots of favourable comments about the catering from the party on the Saturday, and everyone was impressed with the food. Thank you also for the brilliant service from yourself and the waitress. You both made it all run exceptionally smoothly and stress free for us.
